SF BUILD scholars spent their summer months in research rotations at San Francisco State and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
At SF State, the scholars conducted research studies on the biological markers of stress at The Latina Center in Richmond, California. For many, this was their first time doing research. They presented their results at a poster session at SF State.
The cohort completed the second half of their rotation at UCSF, focusing on population science. For their final project, the scholars developed hypothetical research studies involving some aspect of diversity and stress.
Students presented their final projects to SF BUILD faculty and staff on Aug. 15. They presented strong, relevant and community-based research ideas and took a moment to reflect on their time with SF BUILD over the past few months.
