The Quality Of Opportunity Project recently published an article entitled, “Who Becomes an Inventor in America? The Importance of Exposure to Innovation.”
The mission of the Quality of Opportunity Project is to develop scalable policy solutions that empower families to rise out of poverty and achieve better life outcomes. They do this by studying areas where the American Dream is still thriving and using big data to understand and solve some of the most important social and economic problems of our time.
The article addresses the missed opportunities in innovation due to inequality and how this impacts everyone’s future. The data found that children who excelled in math were far more likely to become inventors however, their family’s income also played a large role. Those who came from high-income families had a decent chance to become an inventor.
